McAfee to create 120 technology sales jobs in Cork

23 Sep 2009

Security software giant McAfee is to create 120 new technology sales jobs in Cork and recruitment is set to commence immediately.

McAfee said today it plans to expand its Cork operation with the creation of an inside sales operation working across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The expansion will generate in the region of 120 jobs, supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Cork is the headquarters for McAfee’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is also the point through which all orders for the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions are processed.

The company already has significant operations in the city, with much of its finance, procurement, localisation, order processing and channel customer care based to the east of the city.

The company first established a presence in Ireland in late 2004 and has since grown its Irish workforce to around 170 employees. With the introduction of a Cork-based inside sales operation, McAfee will further increase its footprint in Ireland.

“This investment is highly significant for Ireland, and is a positive endorsement from an industry leader, further demonstrating the attractiveness of the region for companies seeking a location from which to develop and grow their European business,” Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan TD, said today.

“A move on this scale sets the standard for other organisations and will help to demonstrate how Ireland can contribute to global business.”

Headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., McAfee employs more than 5,500 people worldwide and reported revenues of $1.6 billion in 2008.

David Quantrell, president, EMEA, McAfee, said the creation of a pan-EMEA inside sales operation in Cork puts Ireland at the core of our efforts to communicate this promise to our customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“By doubling the size of our existing inside sales team, we will expand not only our footprint in Ireland but also the scale and sophistication of our operation, enabling us to better service our customers and partners across the EMEA region.

“Ireland is a great place to do this – the country has a plethora of talent and will give us a truly international operation that will support our drive to become the No. 1 security vendor for our customers across EMEA.

“Security is a priority for businesses and individuals alike and at a time when the global economy is creating waves across the commercial world, this doesn’t change.  At a global level, McAfee has reported 14 consecutive quarters of double-digit, year-over-year revenue growth, driven by security product leadership, a strong partner ecosystem and a powerful business model.

“These factors make McAfee an incredibly exciting place to be, and a business that has an inordinate amount to offer its customers. As we move forwards, strengthening our inside sales operation and building a best-in-class team that will contribute significantly to the future of McAfee is of the utmost importance,” Quantrell said.

McAfee is inviting those with inside sales experience and an interest in security to go to www.insidemcafee.com for job specifications and to apply for available roles.
