Quinn-Financial ensures lower costs with IP LAN

Insurance firm Quinn-Financial Services (QFS) has deployed an advanced internet protocol (IP) system that can carry its voice and data traffic on a single converged network. The move will also allow the company to reduce its operating and cabling costs as well as adding new features to its contact centres.

The insurance company chose a communications system provided by Nortel Networks, whose channel partners, Eircom Business Systems and LAN Communications participated in the network deployment.

QFS can also operate its private broadband network seamlessly across three separate office locations — its existing contact centers in Cavan and Enniskillen as well as a recently opened facility in Blanchardstown.

Shane Woods, systems and information manager, QFS, commented: “The communication technology from Nortel Networks has enabled us to optimise and evolve our existing systems while deploying modern, effective and scalable technology that integrates across one simple converged IP network. We selected Nortel Networks because it offered the best solution not only for our contact centre requirements, but also for additional functionality – such as mobility – that can be added at low cost and for increased productivity to support our continued growing business.”

Nortel Networks Succession Communication Server 1000 has been rolled out to QFS’ newly opened contact centre in Blanchardstown. In addition, QFS managerial staff at all locations will be using software phones – the Nortel Networks i2050 – will operate from their PCs and provide seamless access to business telephone, email and fax messaging services from any location. At the Cavan and Enniskillen sites, the Nortel Networks Contact Centre solution Symposium has been deployed across a converged voice and data network.

The system in place at QFS also provides for quality of service from the edge of the network to the core. An additional LAN switch offers security, resilience and intelligent LAN connectivity features.
