Against the backdrop of this Thursday being International Women’s Day, entrepreneurs, including Lauren Fisher of Simply Zesty and Gráinne Barry of Anotherfriend.com, will be sharing their business insights at a Dublin seminar on the same day.
Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton, TD, will address more than 200 female entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs at the free event, which will take place at the Davenport Hotel in Dublin’s City Centre from 6pm on Thursday.
Dublin Chamber of Commerce is hosting the seminar in alliance with the Fingal, Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Boards.
The keynote speaker will be Vodafone Ireland’s HR director Rachel Mooney. Speaking ahead of the seminar, Mooney said it was encouraging there are well-established networks in Ireland motivating and supporting women in business, especially female entrepreneurs.
“I am looking forward to speaking with my peers on Thursday to share our own experiences and discuss new solutions for continued success in the future,” she said.
Female entrepreneurs who have also expanded their businesses in recent years will also speak at the seminar, including Gráinne Barry, managing director of the online dating website Anotherfriend.com. A recently as 9 February, the online dating player announced it had acquired another Irish dating site, Maybefriends.com, from Saongroup.
Meanwhile, Lauren Fisher, co-founder of the social media agency Simply Zesty, will also be sharing her insights. It will be a timely event for Fisher, seeing as it was just announced today that TV and internet player UTV plc has acquired Simply Zesty for about stg£1.7m.
Fisher, an ex-PR person, teamed up with chef Niall Harbison to form Simply Zesty three years ago, based on the evolution of social media and marketing.
Jacquie Marsh, owner of The Butler’s Pantry, and Ruth Monaghan, founder and CEO of Appassionata Flowers, will also be speaking at this Thursday’s seminar.
Dublin Chamber said today there would also be some mentoring slots available from 5-6pm. The slots must be booked in advance, however.
