Web-to-mobile sports team management service Teamer – which has over 20,000 sports users in Ireland and the UK – is expanding its service to the US and Australia.

Australia will be the first on Teamer’s agenda, and the company has appointed Ciaran Sharp to be its Australian director of operations, based out of Sydney.

Teamer CEO Niall McEvoy explained that Teamer is a free web service aimed at easing the administrative and financial burden on sports teams managers, many of whom operate in a voluntary capacity.

The technology enables team organisers to communicate with players via their computer or mobile phone, sending out match details via email and text message at no extra cost.

When the company goes global, the full range of Teamer services, including SMS text, will be available to more than 400 million team sports players in Ireland, the US, Canada, UK and Australia.

Managers also get dedicated team homepages to communicate and host team discussions with players.

“Teamer is actively supported in the Australian market by Enterprise Ireland’s local office in Sydney.

“We are working closely with Teamer.net to maximise the potential for this exciting new product in a market that has a tremendous appetite for sport,” Enterprise Ireland director for Australia Paul Burfield commented.

“Teamer’s early stage commitment to investing in a representative on the ground in Sydney positions it well to take advantage of the market opportunity,” Burfield said.
