A Dublin conference scheduled for the end of October to be attended by some of the world’s leading technology companies is an opportunity for the Irish Government, the IDA and Enterprise Ireland to present the country as a leading smart economy and destination for the world’s new wave of high-tech companies, according to its organisers.

Jack Dorsey, creator, founder and chairman of Twitter, Niklas Zennstrom, founder of Skype and Last.fm founder Michael Breidenbruecker will all attend the invite-only event, which is a collaboration between a group of young European tech company founders.  The ‘Founders’ conference will be attended by 100 high-profile delegates.

Taoiseach to address ‘Founders’ conference

Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD will address the group as part of the conference, while keynote speakers will include Dr Justin Lin, chief economist of the World Bank, and Jerzy Buzek, president of the European Parliament.  The CEOs of the IDA and Enterprise Ireland will also address the group.

"Ireland is gaining an increasing reputation as being the ‘Internet Capital of Europe’," said Barry O’Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland. “Founders is the ideal opportunity to showcase the best of what Ireland has to offer. This is an excellent forum for IDA to engage with the CEOs of many of the world’s fastest-growing technology companies and to share insights on future trends."

"We look forward to engaging with and making a positive impression on the CEOs of many of the world’s fastest-growing technology companies,” said  Frank Ryan, CEO of Enterprise Ireland. “We also look forward to connecting many of our leading indigenous entrepreneurs with these founders and international investors."

Young Irish company founders on the event organising committee include Eamonn Fallon of Daft Media, Dylan Collins of Jolt Online and Weedle’s Iain MacDonald.

The full list of speakers and more details around the event will be announced closer to the date.
