16 May 2008

Eircom has awarded a multi-year contract to VoltDelta International to supply its directory services platform.

VoltDelta International is a subsidiary of US-based Volt Information Sciences and will completely replace Eircom’s existing infrastructure with the latest soft-switching technology.

Volt Delta will supply its OASIS IP-based switching and contact centre system, together with its 360 set of applications supporting Eircom’s Directory Services including 11811 National Directory Enquiries, Golden Pages Talking, 11818 UK and 11818 International Directory Enquiries, Alarm Clock Call, Special Directory Enquiries and Minicom.

The integrated OASIS and 360-based solution will provide Eircom with a completely modern and highly resilient infrastructure to underpin its services, Volt Delta said.

The OASIS and 360 product sets encompass a wide range of integrated systems and functionality. For Eircom this includes the supply of the OASIS soft switch with media gateway supporting SS7 ISUP interconnect signalling, an IP-based voice IVR system, integrated call and agent screen recording, billing CDR generation and SMS capability.

The 360 high-speed search engine will be loaded with both Irish telephone listings and Golden Pages listing information. Agents will also have integrated online access to a wide range of worldwide telephone listings using a service provided by LSSi Europe, a subsidiary company of the Volt group.

Eircom’s new OASIS system also supports access to services for those customers with hearing impairment with the OASIS Relay product feature for text-based phone support and relay type services.

As well as supply of systems, VoltDelta is also providing a comprehensive package of professional services for the project implementation and roll-out phases, as well as full 24×7 support services.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

“I believe that with our flexible platform in place, Eircom will be able to face the future and more easily develop and deploy enhanced services in the years to come,” said Noel Hughes, managing director, VoltDelta International.

“Before choosing VoltDelta for this major procurement, we carried out extensive reference site visits to many of VoltDelta’s key customers around Europe and were highly impressed by what we found,” said Gerry Culligan, director consumer market, Eircom. “The system we have selected will allow us to move forward with our business of providing a wide range of information and assistance services to our customers and allow us to compete more effectively.

“One of the most significant benefits we see with the VoltDelta solution is that of a one-stop shop for the supply of all of the major systems needed across our Directory Enquiry business.”
