CA Technologies launches eco-friendly software

21 Jun 2010

CA Technologies has released the latest version of its energy, carbon and sustainability management solution – ecoSoftware 2.0 – with the aim of helping companies reduce their carbon emissions, manage energy consumption and cut energy costs.

With firms globally under increasing pressure to streamline their energy consumption and waste, Terrence Clark, senior vice-president and general manager of the CA ecoSoftware business unit says complying with regulations and communicating their progress with stakeholders are other critical factors.

The new CA ecoSoftware 2.0 includes enhancements to CA ecoGovernance, CA Technologies SaaS-based sustainability and carbon management solution, and CA ecoMeter, its operational energy management solution.

According to the company, CA ecoSoftware 2.0 can help companies streamline their annual reporting processes across a range of mandatory and voluntary initiatives, including the UK’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, the GlobalReporting Initiative (GRI), and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

“The increasing emphasis on enterprise sustainability has significant impacts and implications for IT,” says Lee Dittmar, principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP and leader of Deloitte’s IT for Sustainability services.

“IT is becoming recognised as an essential enabler of sustainability efforts throughout the enterprise, and the CIO’s agenda increasingly includes providing technology to manage and report on enterprise-wide energy use and carbon emissions, and providing the sustainability measurement and reporting tool sets.

“Working with CA Technologies, we will be able to broaden our sustainability services designed to help organisations in their efforts to accelerate their sustainability program successes,” he said.
