Engineers Week 2014: memes pay cheeky tribute to the profession

9 Feb 2014

“Engineering stimulates the mind,” pilot, musician and broadcaster Bruce Dickinson has said, and Engineers Week aims to do the same in people of all ages via events taking place across Ireland this week.

Engineers Week begins across the island today, featuring seven days of nationwide events to celebrate and raise awareness of the world of engineering.

The week also aims to generate enthusiasm about the engineering profession, not only within students, but also in teachers, students and the general public.

Listings of Engineers Week events taking place throughout Ireland are available on the event’s website.

For example, ‘An evening of inspiring ideas’ will take place on 12 February in TOG, the Dublin Hackerspace in Dublin City; engineering students from University College Cork will show primary-school students some hands-on engineering activities on 11 February at the Grand Parade Library in Cork City; and the University of Ulster is organising a Magical Science & Engineering Show to take place on 12 February.

To help spark excitement for engineering – as well as some laughs – and to kick off Engineers Week, we present memes in honour of the profession.
