Gigglebit is Siliconrepublic’s daily dose of the funny and fantastic in science and tech, to help start your day on a lighter note.

In today’s entry, science and fiction collide as an infographic from Buy Metal Online tabulates various imagined materials from comic books, TV shows, cartoons, games, film and literature in the form of a periodic table.

Arranged like the familiar periodic table of chemical elements (but missing the array of lanthanides and acitinides that sometimes punctuates the block between columns two and three), this fictional table includes well-known made-up materials such as kryptonite, carbonite and flubber, as well as a wide range of obscure references.

Test your geek knowledge and see how many you recognise.
