The US space exploration agency NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has announced it will hold a press conference today to discuss a finding that will “impact the search for evidence of extra-terrestrial life”.

NASA said the news conference will be held at 11am Pacific Standard Time (19:00 GMT) in its headquarters to make the announcement of the significant astrobiological find.

Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.

NASA recently announced that the the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope – a space observatory being used to perform gamma-ray astronomy observations from low Earth orbit – had encountered an enormous series of gamma ray bubbles in the centre of the Milky Way Galaxy.
