Interactive learning technology company Promethean has launched ActivEngage – a new software version of the Learner Response System.
The technology was launched at the Irish Teaching and Learning Festival and it enables laptops, or desktop computers, to act as personal response devices – enabling schools to provide voting capability in classrooms via individual student computers instead of specific handsets.
ActivEngage is the latest addition to Promethean’s learning technology that equips teachers with the ability to deliver dynamic lessons tailored to the immediate assessment of student performance.
Importance of ICT
Computer-per-pupil initiatives are increasingly being promoted as a means of underpinning schools’ information and communications technology (ICT) strategies, which is apparent from the Government’s recent announcement that it is to give 698 schools €20m for ICT equipment.
Promethean says this “software only” version the Learner Response System has been designed to complement these initiatives and widen access to its assessment and engagement capabilities.
