Applications open for NIBRT Springboard programmes in biotech

16 Jun 2016

The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) has launched its 2016 Springboard programmes.

Under Springboard, NIBRT – supported by leading companies in the sector, like BioMarin, BMS and MSD – will be providing several free, part-time, fully-accredited training programmes in biotech for those who are currently unemployed.

Programmes from Level 6 to Level 9 are on offer through IT Tallaght, IT Sligo and UCD, covering topics from biopharmaceutical operations and quality control testing, to biopharma processing and cleanroom manufacturing.

The programmes are designed to assist people seeking employment in the biopharma industry, and – as well as classroom-based or online learning – include an element of practical, hands-on experience gained at NIBRT’s biopharmaceutical production plant.

The programmes will prepare participants for jobs in the biotech sector, a fast-growing area with exports of €39bn last year, and a total employment of 52,000 people in Ireland.

Roles in the industry are wide-reaching, with opportunities for operators, technicians, engineers, graduates, admin, scientists, analysts, management and support staff at all levels.

Programmes will start between August and October this year. Applications are now open through Springboard.
