As part of this strategic investment, British Gas has signed a commercial agreement to deploy AlertMe products and services to its customers in the UK.

Commenting on how the AlertMe enables consumers to interact and monitor their home via the internet and smartphone to view analytics, automation and controls, Mary Turner, AlertMe CEO, said: “Nearly a third of all energy is used in the home so consumers can play a significant part in saving energy and reducing their carbon footprint. It’s up to the energy sector and government to educate and engage them. The AlertMe Home Area Network (HAN) and cloud-based platform provides two-way communication for real-time monitoring, control, automation and analytics.”

The platform allows consumers to manage and control a wide range of home activities over the internet and via their smartphone, saving up to 15 to 20pc on their energy bills, reducing their carbon footprint and providing increased efficiency, convenience, comfort and peace of mind, according the AlertMe.com.

AlertMe also works with new Smart Meters being rolled out by utilities across the world, enhancing and extending the benefits of the Smart Grid to the consumer.
