Smart water metering progress for Ireland

29 Jun 2010

A hybrid water meter is to help water providers better manage resources.

Elster Metering has secured the first V210 volumetric hybrid water meter order in Ireland.

Deploying advanced electronic register technology, the V210 hybrid is a volumetric water meter that aims to set new standards in automated meter reading. The V210 hybrid functions by using intelligence within the electronic register to turn simple data into valuable metering information, such as consumption profiles, leakage detection and time-of-use/tariff bands.

The V210 hybrid has been designed to form an integral part of Elster’s EMERIS AMI system to help county councils and group water schemes in Ireland meet their targets for resource management and customer service.

Speaking today, Elster’s global product manager, Gary Vincent, said: “We are delighted to receive the first order for the V210 hybrid water meter in Ireland. The V210 hybrid meter is unique in that it comprises a fully integrated, tamperproof AMR unit, alongside many smart metering features to enable water providers to manage their resources more effectively.”

Elster is working with S. W. Carty, its partner for all projects in Ireland to deliver the V210 hybrid meters and accessories to the customer.

Elster Metering is part of Elster Group, which carries out advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and integrated metering and utilisation solutions to the gas, electricity and water industries.
