Trilliant is partnering with GE for meters and with Siemens for integration to deploy the smart metering communications infrastructure for Burbank Water and Power in California.

Trilliant was recently in the news after winning a major contract with British Gas to provide the communications equipment for its smart meter deployment. The initial rollout is set to support more than 1m British Gas’ customer accounts and will be completed in 2012.

The future of the smart grid

The smart grid communications provider delivers solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations and renewable resource integration. It has just completed its pilot at Burbank Water and Power (BWP) – a community-owned utility in Burbank, California, that has served the business and residents of Burbank with water and power since 1913.

BWP will now deploy more than 50,000 smart meters using Trilliant’s technology for all businesses and residences in the utility area by the end of 2011.

Trilliant will be deploying GE smart meters throughout BWP’s service area while Siemens Smart Grid Applications is managing the integration between Trilliant’s communication networks and BWP’s utility enterprise.

Founded in 1985, Trilliant is an innovator in the delivery and implementation of energy management systems, including advanced utility wireless data collection for residential and commercial customers, demand response, time-of-use billing and critical peak pricing initiatives. Its current customers include Centrica, Iberdrola USA and Hydro One.
