Call for Ireland to capitalise on renewable energy resources

Fine Gael’s Energy Spokesman, Leo Varadkar TD, has called for an inexpensive and renewable energy supply and is urging expanded offshore exploration into oil and gas.

Varadkar says a greener “energy that is inexpensive and secure” can help deliver on our climate change commitments “by supporting investment in renewables and conservation”.

Varadkar says Ireland’s inability to capitalise on our resources should encourage the Minister for Natural Resources, Conor Lenihan, to promote investment in the area.

“In order to encourage exploration, our Minister for Natural Resources (has to) to act an as ambassador, promoting investment and exploration in Ireland,” he said.
