Fast-growing Irish IT company Trilogy Technologies’ expansion into the UK market is continuing apace and the company has signed a managed services deal with motor sports giant Yamaha.

The managed services solution will be delivered via Trilogy’s Managed Service Centre in Dublin, which allows Trilogy clients to be monitored, managed and supported in any geographical location and reported on via Trilogy’s edge/point portal.

Yamaha UK is responsible for all of the importing, sales and marketing and service support for Yamaha motorised products, including motorcycles, scooters, marine outboard engines, four-wheel all-terrain vehicles, golf cars and snowmobiles.

The company employs 60 people and decided to implement a managed services solution to support its ongoing transformation via a virtual IT department.

“We needed a flexible managed service, tailored specifically to our needs that would allow us to concentrate on our business and competencies while reducing our total cost of IT ownership,” explained Mark Knight, head of IT at Yamaha UK.

“At Yamaha, we are committed to investing in the future of the business and to harnessing technology to continue to streamline processes and ensure their reliability. We have a very small IT department and we needed a partner who was available 24/7, 365 days a year.”

Trilogy implemented a private cloud infrastructure built around energy-efficient HP Storage and VMware vSphere and VEEAM Software.

The project enabled Yamaha to replace more than 12 physical servers with the new infrastructure, a readily available fully redundant platform to run its core administration and operational systems while offering automatic failover, business continuity and disaster recovery.

Once phase one was completed, Yamaha decided to integrate a managed service solution to deliver complete ICT systems availability and support.

Trilogy implemented the solution that provides a 24 x 7 managed service for all Yamaha’s physical and virtual servers, PCs, laptops, networking, storage and security.
