Some 82pc of all emails sent to Irish inboxes are now spam, according to Irish independent consulting and technical services company IT Force.

The IT Force weekly survey showed a total of 17pc of all emails have viruses, with Worm.Zafi.B and Worm.SomeFool.P being the top viruses in the past 24 hours.

IT Force analysed a total of 6.1 million emails received by IT Force and its clients, of which five million were SPAM. One million emails sent contained viruses.

The top 10 viruses over the last 24 hours were: 1- Worm.Zafi.B; 2- Worm.SomeFool.P; 3- Exploit.HTML.Iframe; 4- Worm.SomeFool.Gen-2; 5- Worm.Mytob.BT; 6- W32.Sality.Q-1; 7- Worm.Nyxem.E; 8- Worm.Mytob.AF; 9- Worm.Mytob.BZ; and 10- Worm.Mytob.GP.
