Tech giant Dell has signed a contract worth €300,000 with construction company BAM Contractors to roll out backup, virtualisation, and compellent storage consolidation systems.

To determine how best to meet BAM’s needs, company representatives visited the Dell Solutions Centre at its Limerick campus, where the Dell team showcased solution options to the BAM team.

“Through the use of its Solutions Centre, Dell demonstrated exactly how the proposed infrastructure would function,” said Tim McCarthy, CIO of BAM.

“The Dell team factored in security concerns and likely future use levels to come up with a robust offering, which demonstrated to us that BAM will be well served by the new technology into the future. We view this contract as an investment in the bright future of BAM.”

The entire design process took place over the course of a year and included a series of follow-up workshops with expert teams at Dell’s Cherrywood campus in Dublin.

The contract was signed once BAM was satisfied with the approach.

“As part of this contract, our team will provide enterprise-class mission-critical server and compellent storage infrastructure support to BAM for the next five years,” Dell Ireland country manager Liam Halpin said.
