Twenty new positions are to be created at a state of the art services centre that will consolidate insurance giant Canada Life’s entire core European IT infrastructure into its Irish headquarters.

As part of the centre’s creation, Cable & Wireless has been awarded a lucrative €1.5m contract to provide Canada Life with access to its global network as well as provide the financial player with an IP-VPN network.

The new system will enable Canada Life to connect up all its 2,000 employees within various divisions across Europe.

The new network will also connect the European offices directly with head office in Canada.

In Dublin, Canada Life has more than 500 employees involved in the management of funds exceeding €5bn and managing accounts for over 300,000 customers.

“Cable & Wireless’ fully managed global IP network gives us fast and direct access to all of our existing and planned markets,” said Darragh O’Sullivan, manager of Technology Integration and Network Services at Canada Life.
