Government seeks search appliance

19 Sep 2006

The Department of Finance has put out a tender seeking a search appliance that will be used across all the various Government departments’ websites.

The tender went live on the Government’s eTenders procurement portal recently.

According to the document, the Department of Finance is on the lookout for a service that provides an index of all Government websites.

It is also looking for a facility for Government websites to use the service as their site search platform.

At present, all Government search is provided as a managed service.

However, following an analysis of requirements it was decided that a search appliance would best meet the Governments requirements.

These requirements include a combination of low management costs and customisation abilities.
