Irish firm Cubic in cloud deal with China Unicom

2 Jul 2013

The world’s third biggest mobile operator China Unicom has deployed a new cloud service platform using technology made in Ireland by Cubic Telecom.

Unveiled last week at the 2013 GSMA Asia Expo in Shanghai, China, the cloud platform supports anytime, anywhere connectivity solutions on mobile broadband and Wi-Fi networks across devices like tablets, notebooks and e-readers.

The cloud services platform is being targeted at the education and healthcare markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

The cloud platform was built using Cubic Telecoms’ software defined network (SDN) which manages email, video streaming, games and social media for consumers right up to specialist applications for enterprise users in real-time across Android, Windows and iOS devices.
