Government export agency Enterprise Ireland has selected Dublin software firm pTools to deploy the content management system that powers its new website.

A key element of the website is the delivery of rich media and social-networking content, in addition to providing a comprehensive range of advice and information for Enterprise Ireland’s various audiences.

Delivered on Microsoft SQL database, the solution is designed to fit with Enterprise Ireland’s overall IT strategy and Microsoft .NET-based architecture and includes future proofing for integration with Microsoft SharePoint and other framework solutions.

With more than 30 international locations, pTools CMS also provides multi-language functionality for administration of international regional content.

Single point of information

“Enterprise Ireland’s new website is a comprehensive single point of information on all of the services and supports that are available to export-focused Irish companies and entrepreneurs,” said Frank Ryan, CEO, Enterprise Ireland.

“The successful completion of the project required a strong partnership approach between all members of the extended team and we are satisfied that the new website will significantly enhance our clients’ ability to engage with us online.”

The content management system enables extensive use of multimedia files, multiple languages for the various international office websites, social media networking and ‘Share this’ functionality, calendar for events listing and events calendar searching, multi-server deployment, multi-level workflows and publish approval levels.

“The pTools CMS team worked proactively with us from the start of the project through to implementation of a new, technology-enabled and modern corporate website,” Deirdre McDonough, head of IT at Enterprise Ireland, said.

“Their platform proved to be reliable and flexible and we are confident it will serve us well as we further develop our online presence,” McDonough said.

International presence

Technology-wise, the initiative is about delivering and managing content across the multiple sectors and international offices of Enterprise Ireland worldwide.

“The work done by Enterprise Ireland internally has really ensured this deployment and we’re indebted to the team there,” said pTools’ Tom Skinner.

“This is a landmark deployment for us and another example of the business critical content management solutions we deliver to our customers.”

“pTools makes it easy to manage content for websites of significant business scale and scope. This content is often critical to the business and its customers. In the case of Enterprise Ireland, the value and efficiency of timely and accurate content and information is even more evident,” Skinner said.
