Data protection specialist Sabeo has won a lucrative contract to install an HP Alpha Server at the VHI Healthcare head office in Dublin.

The installation of this high-end equipment will provide support for VHI Healthcare’s business, comprising of its Dublin head office, Kilkenny Contact Centre and five branch offices across the country, which are connected to centralised billing, customer services and claims databases in Dublin.

Over a 12-month period VHI Healthcare manages over 4.3 million contacts with members through telephone, email, mail, text messages or through personal callers at its offices in Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Kilkenny.

The total size for all VHI Healthcare Production Databases is 0.5 of a terabyte.

“The purpose for this IT investment is twofold: one to provide VHI Healthcare with additional capacity to support its growing business and the other is to put in place a resilient solution which will protect our business in case of hardware failure,” said Niall O’Connor, IT systems manager with VHI Healthcare.

“This investment is primarily to support VHI Healthcare’s objective to provide best in class customer service; by ensuring high availability of our systems we can then ensure our customers’ needs are met as and when required,” he added.
