The Kindle Fire

A report suggests that Amazon’s recent tablet, the Kindle Fire, could be coming to the UK in January, meaning it may get a global release after all.

Know Your Mobile reports that sources say the tablet could arrive in January 2012 in the UK. There’s currently no word on what other regions it may arrive in alongside this possible UK release. The source also didn’t give a price for the potential UK launch.

Amazon announced the Kindle Fire in September. The tablet runs on a customised version of Android focusing on giving access to Amazon services, such as the Kindle Store, the Amazon App Store and Amazon Prime.

What made it stand out from the rest of the tablet market was a combination of its digital content and its low price of US$199. IHS iSuppli predicts it will surpass iPad rivals and that Amazon will ship 3.9m Kindle Fires during the last three months of 2011.

However, previous reports suggested the Kindle Fire may not see a release outside of the US, possibly due to content rights issues and data protection laws in Europe.

The latest rumours suggest the tablet could arrive in Europe after all, though it will miss the Christmas rush. It could prove to be a worthy iPad alternative for those looking for a tablet under a strict budget.
