The rise of e-reading: are books going to become an endangered species (infographic)

21 Sep 2012

Amazon UK’s latest figures in August revealed that for every 100 books sold on Amazon.co.uk in 2012, 114 e-books have been sold. The advent of e-readers has only helped bolster the e-book market, so will physical books become obsolete, then? A new infographic seeks the answer.

The infographic created for Schools.com reveals that physical books may still be around for a good while. For example, 81pc of respondents to a survey of readers who have read an e-book in the past year said a regular book is best for reading with a child.

The infographic also looks at sales of e-readers, e-reader pros and cons, the number of people turning to digital content, and whether age dictates the type of device consumers use to consume digital content.
