Sports fans in Ireland have more programming to choose from now that digital cable TV provider UPC is adding Setanta 1 HD to its TV packages.

UPC is now offering a wider mix of premium sports, including rugby, NASCAR, US ice hockey, and international and domestic football/soccer.

“Setanta 1 is the home of our 33 Live Barclays Premier League games this season along with a host of other live content,” said Brian Quinn, marketing operations director of Setanta Sports.

“It’s great that UPC customers can now experience all five channels in the Setanta Plus pack in HD.”

For UPC Horizon TV customers, the new HD channel will replace the existing Setanta 1. For all other UPC customers, Setanta 1 will be at channel 436.

Shane Loughrey-Grant, content delivery manager, UPC, added that UPC is continually strengthening its TV packages to make sure it’s bringing Irish TV viewers the best sporting action from across the globe.

“Setanta 1 HD is an exciting addition and will help to bring premium sporting events even more vividly to our viewers,” Loughrey-Grant said.
