Electronics giant Toshiba is to bring out a 7-inch Windows 8.1 tablet computer with Bing and Microsoft Office 365 Personal later this year that will cost just €139.

The super low-priced Encore Mini was unveiled today, ahead of consumer electronics trade show IFA 2014 in Berlin.

The device will come with a free one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal, which includes apps such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as 1TB of OneDrive online storage.

Some 60 Skype world minutes per month are also included.

An Intel Atom processor powers the device, which includes a microSD card slot for cards up to 128GB.

In terms of display, the seven-inch monitor will have 1,024 x 600 resolution.

The Encore Mini comes with 1GB of memory and works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The device, which comes in a pure white shell, weighs just 350 grams.

Battery life can last up to seven hours and the device sports a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera.

Toshiba’s TrueCapture app makes it possible to capture information from paper documents.

A spokesman for Toshiba told Siliconrepublic.com the tablet will arrive in Ireland and the UK in the fourth quarter, just in time for Christmas.
