The Raspberry Pi team has revealed new cheaper, smaller and more energy efficient model of its Model A. The new device will sell for just US$20.
Raspberry PI devices are in high demand amongst primary and secondary school students as they can help equip kids with the IT skills the need for the future, discover new programming languages.
In the UK Google has donated stg£1m to provide 15,000 Raspberry Pi devices to schools.
The new Model A+ is smaller at just 65mm in length compared with the original’s 86mm length and consumes less power.
The dev boards contains many of the improvements that Raspberry Pi made to its Model B+.
Compatible with the HAT standard for add-on boards the GPIO has grown to 40 pins.
The older friction-fit SD card socket has been replaced with a push-push micro SD version and the audio circuit incorporates a dedicated low-noise power supply.
