Samsung reveals iPhone 6 Plus competitor, the Galaxy A7

With its 5.5in screen, Samsung’s new Galaxy A7 phone is aiming to challenge Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus’s place in the phablet market, but for a much wider audience.

While drawing a comparison with the Apple phabletreleased last September, the new Samsung phone is aiming to be the Android phablet of choice, particularly given it will include the option of being a dual-sim which is increasingly popular in developing countries.

Following on from the Galaxy Alpha which launched during the summer, Samsung are continuing their trend, and almost every other company’s, to make their phones increasingly slimmer in stature.

The Galaxy A7’s width comes in at an impressive 6.3mm in thickness, compared with Apple’s 7.1mm iPhone 6 Plus, but given the hoopla that came following its release and the infamous ‘Bendgate’ saga, there could be issues surrounding its ability to withstand the owner’s pockets.

In an attempt to cut back on its sale price to make it more attractive a purchase than the iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung have had to cut a few corners with the Galaxy A7 with its relatively average battery of 2,600mAh and its launch software of the older Android KitKat operating system, given that Google are already pushing out its latest operating system, Lollipop.

In terms of the phone’s other spec, much of what would be expected is on show including being 4G capable, 2GB of RAM, 16GB hard drive with ability to expand with micro SD and a processor of between 1GHz and 1.8GHz, depending on the model.
