Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones will be available for pre-order in the UK and Ireland this Friday, 20 March, before going on sale on 10 April.

The company has still not confirmed how much each device will cost.

Samsung said the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available to pre-order from all high street retailers and networks, including EE, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, and Three/O2 from 20 March.

Unveiled at the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the S6 and S6 Edge are all-metal clad smartphones. The S6 Edge has a super Amoled screen wrapped around both edges of the device.

The devices feature a 5MP front-facing camera with real-time HDR, as well as 16MP rear-facing cameras that also have real-time HDR technology built in.

Each smartphone has a 5.1-inch screen and is powered by a 64-bit processor built using 14nm processes.

Both devices are capable of wireless charging and can be 40pc charged within 10 minutes.

“The response to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices has been overwhelming, the entirely redefined smartphones offer consumers what’s next in mobility,” said Conor Pierce, vice-president IT & Mobile at Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland.

“At Samsung, we don’t talk about what might be possible tomorrow, we make it happen today and that’s why we’re bringing people new technology faster than anybody else.”

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available from 10 April, with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options and in colours including white pearl, black sapphire and gold platinum.
