Apple offering developers early access to specific Apple Watch

22 Apr 2015

Apple has contacted a select number of developers, offering them early-bird opportunities to buy an Apple Watch to help with the development of apps.

Emails have been sent out today from the company to iOS developers, offering them a chance to purchase the 42mm Apple Watch Sport with a blue band, which is a bizarrely specific model to choose.

There’s a garuanteed shipment date of April 28, for the silver aluminium case model, with the offer made “by random selection”.

Quantities of the watch are limited, with those developers interested needing to register online.

“We want to help give Apple developers the opportunity to test their WatchKit apps on Apple Watch as soon as it is available,” reads the email, as reported on 9to5mac.

“You have the chance to purchase one (1) Apple Watch Sport with 42mm Silver Aluminum Case and Blue Sport Band.”

Macrumours suggests the specific choice of Apple Watch could be simply down to overstock, similarly the blue band may be in ample supply.

Either way it’s weirdly specific.
