A look at the Apple iPhone’s evolution (infographic)

Apple is set to dominate the news this week, as its Worldwide Developer Conference takes place in San Francisco.

It has already revealed many new features of its iOS 9 mobile operating system, its new Apple Music platform and its latest Mac OS X El Capitan.

With so many developments by the tech giant being announced this week, we thought it was a good moment to reflect on how far the company’s flagship piece of mobile hardware — the Apple iPhone — has come.

Given its omnipresence in the mobile phone world now, it is hard to believe that the first generation of the iPhone was only released eight years ago — on 29 June, 2007 — heralding a new age when we would all have the power of computers in our pockets.

The many iterations since then have brought us up to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which were launched last September.

Online retailer Infibeam produced the below infographic, which was brought to our attention by the folks at TechInfographics, outlining the journey the iPhone has taken from its first generation to where we are now…
