Eventbrite brings ticketing to Apple Watch, Android Wear and Pebble

Wearers of smartwatches like the Apple Watch can use their device to check into events or see what's happening nearby

Eventbrite has embraced the smartwatch revolution by making it possible for wearers of Apple Watch, Android Wear and Pebble devices to check into events using their watches.

The new smartwatch functionality will also allow consumers to find events around them and let them buy tickets from their watch, and will remind them of upcoming events.

For organisers using iPads and iPhone devices, Apple Watch will now be compatible with Eventbrite Neon, a door tool that lets organisers monitor sales and check-ins in real-time.

“Bringing our ticketing technology to wearables is another step in our efforts to remove friction wherever possible, eliminating queues and waiting times for attendees and making vital data available to organisers whenever and wherever they need it,” said Marino Fresch, Eventbrite’s country manager for Ireland and its head of marketing in the UK.

“Ticketing on smartwatches is the next evolution in our ongoing efforts to remove friction”, said Fresch. “We are giving people access into events quickly and efficiently, without them even having to reach into their pockets. Having said that, it’s really just the beginning of what we’ll be able to do in the future.”

Eventbrite, which opened a new office in Dublin last year, has processed more than US$3bn in ticket sales worldwide, up from US$1bn in 2013. The San Francisco, California, company recently raised US$60m in venture capital, valuing it at more than US$1bn.
