There are very few items in everyday life that have remained free from the touches of smart-tech enthusiasts. We’ve smartened up kitchens, bikes, cars, pets, doorbells and more. So I guess it was only a matter of time before people started trying to add technology to coffins, right?
Among the numerous products we get wind of in here, very few stand out as much as these mocked up images of how “coffins of the future” may look.
Perfect Choice Funerals is the company behind this, with features including a screen on top of the coffin (naturally) with a scrolling slideshow of the recently departed. Because technology.
But no, this screen isn’t just smiley faces and pearly white teeth, not in the era of social media. No, you can also tweet your condolences so that they appear on the coffin, much like people do at concerts just to see their name on the big screen.
Imagine that, your name on the big coffin screen, #RIP!
But this is merely the buttercream on top of the cake. The eye-catching starter, before mourners get to experience the coffin’s true brilliance*.
For along the side of the coffin there are lights, “that change colour, enabling the deceased’s favourite colour to be selected”.
Nothing says ‘mourn my death’ like a gradual switch from white to British racing green and on to ruby red.
Oh and yes, there are speakers integrated into the coffin, “so that the deceased’s eulogy can be projected from the coffin”.
