Irish phone buyers who pre-order the Galaxy S7 will receive a free Gear VR headset, Samsung confirmed

Irish smartphone buyers who pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone will receive a free Gear VR headset if they pre-order the new phone up to 7 March, it has been confirmed.

At Mobile World Congress yesterday, Samsung revealed that buyers who pre-order devices in the UK and US will receive a free Galaxy VR headset, which could be a sign of things to come in mobile-buying patterns.

However, it has now been confirmed that both Three and Carphone Warehouse in Ireland are currently accepting pre-orders for the new smartphone, which will be available for pre-order from today to 7 March.

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and 6 Edge, the S7 and S7 Edge feature a water-resistant chassis and a microSD card slot that expands storage with additional 200GB and 4GB of RAM.

Will free VR give Samsung Galaxy S7 its edge?

Gear VR is Samsung’s collaboration with Facebook-owned Oculus to bring Oculus’s VR technology to the mobile sphere.

The new S7 and S7 Edge come with what Samsung claims is the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, which promises brighter and sharper images in low light.

The new devices have a 5.1-inch screen and are constructed from 3D glass and metal and are dust and water-resistant to IP68 standards.
