HTC's new Vive VR headset

HTC has begun taking pre-orders for its new Vive VR headset ,which will cost €899 in Europe and $799 in the US.

HTC began accepting pre-orders at 3pm this afternoon (29 February).

Vive will ship with two wireless VR controllers, room scale movement sensors and a head-mounted display that features a built-in camera.

The headset is designed to enable a hybrid reality by making use of cameras on the headset to merge the outside world with the virtual world – just so you don’t lose sight of reality.

Vive la revolution!

The latest iteration of the Vive VR headset from HTC was revealed at last week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

It also ships with Vive Phone Services, which allows users to receive and respond to incoming and missed calls, as well as get text messages and see calendar invites directly through the headset.

Vive ships with three free VR experiences, including TiltBrush by Google, Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives by Owlchemy Labs and Fantastic Contraption by Northway Games and Radial Games.

Pre-order fulfillment and full commercial availability will start on 5 April.
