ComScore says that the typical consumer in the EU spends on average 25.9 hours online per month – more than a single full day – and a quarter of that time is devoted to social networking.
Considering how often we check various social media accounts to keep in touch online, it’s not surprising that this accounts for such a hefty chunk of our online activities. According to comScore’s Digital Data Gems report, one in every four minutes that EU users spent online in June 2012 was devoted to social networking.
Shopping and gaming also proved popular in that month, with three in four users visiting a retail site and more than 62pc visiting a games site. Other popular online activities include reading news websites, online banking, checking the weather or the latest sports news, or watching TV.
