Apple has given a date for the launch of its iPad: it will go on sale from 3 April in the US with availability in Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan in late April.

The iPad is coming! The iPad is coming!

The Wi-Fi only model will be available first from 3 April in the US while the Wi-Fi plus 3G model gets the late April launch both in the US and all other regions.

Ireland is not included in April launch

Pre-order for the iPad starts from 12 March but bad news for Irish Apple fans – Ireland is not listed in the European regions that will be seeing the arrival of the tablet device.

So far, the European countries included in the launch are: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

Apple added that the iPad will ship in additional countries "later this year" and said that international pricing will be announced in April.
