Apple Store closes for updates ahead of press event

The message on the online Apple Store

In a likely sign of new products to come, the online Apple Store has temporarily shut down ahead of Apple’s press event today, where the consumer tech giant is expected to reveal new iPhones.

A message that rotates in several languages on the Apple Store website simply reads, “We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.”

Apple is hosting the press conference at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, and the company is expected to take the wraps off two new smartphones: the so-called iPhone 5S and a lower-cost model, the iPhone 5C. The company may even reveal the release date for its latest operating system, iOS 7.
