Apple to launch next iPhone and iPad Mini in September and October respectively

26 Aug 2012

Apple will launch the next generation iPhone – publicly dubbed iPhoned 5 – in September followed by a separate launch of its new smaller form factor iPad Mini in October, it has been reported.

According to All Things Digital, citing sources, Apple plans to dominate the tech news cycle in the run-up to Christmas with two of its largest hardware announcements of the year. Its sources confirmed an earlier viewpoint by Daring Fireball’s John Gruber that Apple would not be launching both devices at one single event.

Apple’s newest smartphone will be launched at an event on 12 September. It is widely rumoured that the next iPhone will have a larger 4-inch screen.

This suggests the device will go on sale in the US mid-September and the rest of the world early October.

Once the iPhone has been safely launched it is expected that Apple will then concentrate ont eh smaller iPad with a launch scheduled for October.

The device is expected to feature a screen size of around 7-inches.
