Bus Éireann social media push puts comedian on the road

3 Jun 2011

Bus Éireann has launched a social media campaign where comedian and journalist Alan Bennett will travel Ireland by bus and report on his experiences.

Over the next six weeks, Bennett will use Bus Éireann services to visit events, gigs and festivals. He will report on them through his blog, and will use Twitter and Facebook to keep readers updated.

Along the way, he will issue challenges to followers to let them win prizes, such as iTunes vouchers, festival tickets, B&B stays and free bus travel. Today’s challenge encourages people to help him build a sand castle on Salthill beach in Galway.

Followers can also recommend new travel destinations for Bennett and they will soon be able to decide on his next trip through polls.

Bennett was a finalist for the 2006 So You Think You’re Funny competition.
