Facebook has denied rumours of two Facebook-branded smartphones made by HTC.
A London business paper had said HTC would unveil two Facebook smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The smartphones would run on a tweaked version of the Android OS and would display Facebook status updates and messages, the report said.
However, Dan Rose, head of business development at Facebook, said this is not the case.
"This is really just another example of a manufacturer who has taken our public APIs and integrated them into their device in an interesting way," Rose said.
“The rumours around there being something more to this HTC device are overblown," he told journalists in London, and confirmed there would not be a Facebook-branded device.
