Facebook is about to hit the 600m user milestone, according to data from Socialbakers. The social network’s current member count is 596.3m users.
According to Socialbakers, it hasn’t even been six months since Facebook announced the 500m user level, and now Facebook is bigger by another 100m users.
The top gaining countries in the last six months which contributed most to this milestone are the US (+20.7m new users), India (+8.3m new users), Indonesia (+8m new users), Philippines +6.2m users) and Mexico (+5.8m new users).
Surprising growth came from countries including Germany (50pc growth), Russia (70pc growth) and Poland (doubled).
Facebook and the Irish
According to Socialbakers’ statistics, there are now 1.7m Irish people using Facebook, of which 47pc are male and 53pc are female.
Twenty-five to 34-year-olds represent the largest age group on Facebook in Ireland, at 37pc of the population, followed by 18 to 24-year-olds, who are 27pc of the population.
The top advertising brands on Facebook in Ireland are, in order of popularity, Baileys, BlackBerry, Guinness Ireland, Jameson Irish Whiskey and Guinness (again!)
