The clock is counting down to Apple’s latest press event and the unveiling of the consumer tech giant’s new wares – but it looks like the iPad-shaped cat is already out of the bag.
Apple’s town hall event takes place tonight from 6pm (IST) and you can follow our man-on-the-ground John Kennedy as he tweets directly from the event in Berlin.
No one knows exactly what’s on the agenda, but speculation points to new iPad tablets, as well as new Mac desktop and laptop devices.
However, eagle eyes over at the Apple-obsessed website 9to5Mac discovered that the downloadable iPad User Guide iBook had been updated for iOS 8.1, including screenshots that suggested we’ll see an iPad Air 2 and an iPad Mini 3 at tonight’s presentation.
Images accompanying the page for the iBooks user guide included devices labelled as such and also identified Touch ID sensors on both.
A second screenshot indicated that ‘Burst’ mode will be available on the iPad Air 2 camera.
The iTunes page for an iOS 8.1 user guide is no longer available, so it’s easy to put this down to a slip-up ahead of the expected announcement of the new operating system and products.
However, it could also be a clever marketing move by Apple, drumming up excitement ahead of its event and distracting attention away from Google’s competing announcements from yesterday.
The Android rival revealed three new devices: a Nexus 6 smartphone, a Nexus 9 tablet and the first Android TV device, Nexus Play.
