The popular Fifty Shades of Grey triology has overtaken the seven Harry Potter books to become the best-selling book series on Amazon.co.uk.

The trilogy by EL James has sold more than 4m copies in print and on the Kindle e-reader since going on sale in March. This makes James the most successful author of all time on Amazon.co.uk, The Guardian reported.

James’ first book in the series, Fifty Shades of Grey, has been outselling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling by two to one in recent weeks. Fifty Shades of Grey, as a result, is now the best-selling book on Amazon.co.uk – ever.

The Fifty Shades of Grey books aren’t doing too shabbily on Amazon.com, either. In the top 20 best-selling books list, Fifty Shades of Grey books take the Nos 1-4 spots, with Fifty Shades Trilogy: Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Freed 3-volume Boxed Set leading the list.
