The Nokia Lumia 1020

The new Lumia 1020 from Nokia puts camera capabilities at the forefront with a 41MP sensor, six lenses and high-resolution zoom. Released in Ireland last Thursday, we visited O2’s Grafton Street store to check it out.

In terms of interface, the 1020 is not much different from the rest of the recent Lumia models running Windows Phone 8. What has been added to optimise the impressive camera specifications, though, is the Nokia Pro Camera app. This app lets users capture large-size high-resolution images where they can zoom in for a high level of detail. The app also offers manual controls to adjust things like focus, white balance, ISO, shutter speed and exposure.

With a 41MP sensor behind them, images can take up a lot of space on the 1020, but users can save large versions to SkyDrive while a smaller version is stored on the phone for simple sharing on social media. There’s also a 64GB model offering additional storage, exclusively available from O2 in Ireland.

The Lumia 1020 is available now in all O2 stores across Ireland and online. The handset is priced from free on bill pay or €639.99 on pre-pay.
