Girl ‘playing dead’ caught on Google Street View

Panic was caused after an image of a nine year old girl pretending to be dead was taken by a Google Street View car.

The photo displays Azura Beebeejaun lying face down along a path of a residential street in Worcester, England. It was uploaded earlier in the year.

Many worried residents found this image and thought that the girl was actually dead. They contacted Google and newspapers to find out if the ‘incident’ had been reported or if there was any other information on the matter.

However, it turned out to be a misunderstanding, as Azura, now 10, was only pretending to be dead to fool her friends.

“I didn’t know anything about the Google Street View car. I fell over while I was playing with my friend and thought it would be funny to play dead,” said Azura.

“I’m quite chuffed I’m on the Internet. It is quite funny and I can’t wait to tell my classmates when I go back to school.”

Her mother Saira mentioned that people had told her that they had seen an image of a girl lying on the ground in their street.

“I assumed it was my daughter because she is always playing around on the pavement. … I never really thought one picture would cause such a commotion,” Saira said.

“I wish she was that quiet all the time,” she added, jokingly.

While Google would not respond to individual images, they told the Worcester News that often, their vehicles would “inadvertently capture odd or inappropriate moments as they drive past.”
