Google Nexus 7 with 3G could be available in six weeks

3 Sep 2012

According to a “well-placed insider”, Asus is ramping up production on a 3G Nexus 7 in order to get it ready for launch in just six weeks.

The Nexus 7 launched in June with two models: one with 8GB of storage, the other 16GB. The latter proved particularly popular, selling out early on in the US and forcing the company to stop taking orders.

Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo reports that a 3G version will arrive in just a month and a half, but no other hardware changes are expected with the new device.

So far, the low-cost tablet is available in Australia, Canada, the UK, the US and, most recently, France, Germany and Spain, retailing at just €199 for 8GB, €249 for 16GB.
