Hollywood star saves woman’s life via Twitter

4 Apr 2009

Movie star Demi Moore was last night credited with saving a woman’s live when she mobilised her army of 350,000 Twitter ‘followers’ to prevent a suicidal woman from taking her own life.

Moore said the ability to mobilise fans and alert police to the potential suicide demonstrated a “prime example of the power of collective consciousness.”

In a quick burst of text, the woman threatened to take her own life with a knife.

When Moore realised the 48-year-old woman was serious, she urged members of the social-networking site to find out who she was and get help, and rebroadcast it to her 383,000 fans on Twitter.

San Jose police said they got a number of calls from Twitter users, and were able to track the woman down at her home.
